Walford Mill classes

My short courses offer the opportunity to work on more in depth projects than we could cover in a single day class. You can choose from my wide range of embroidery designs or you can develop your own ideas to create a true, one-of-a-kind embroidery.

My classes are held at Walford Mill Crafts in Wimborne, Dorset in the light and airy education space on the ground floor of the building. There are three terms per year, each term is 10 weeks long and whilst the morning group is currently full there are spaces available in the afternoon group.

The dates for 2024 are as follows

Summer term –

April 23rd, 30th, May 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th, June 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th

Autumn term –

Private lessons

I offer a range of different private lessons from one to one sessions taught in person from my Wimborne studio to online one to one sessions via zoom.

The first session costs £75 for  1.5 hours of online tuition plus 0.5 hours for class preparation, additional time or follow up sessions they are charged at £40 per hour.

Any hand embroidery projects can be our focus, from traditional hand stitching to more contemporary ideas. Just reach out with your thoughts and we can start planning your piece.

I would love to see your project ideas in advance so I can plan for the session; ideally your picture, planned stitches and placement etc. This means all of our time together can be focused on the exciting part of your project!

Online classes

I have a range of online classes, some of them are tutor led, where I am teaching you in real time and some of them are self paced classes where you work through the lessons in your own time.

All classes are held via zoom and they are recorded meaning you do not have to attend the live sessions if you cannot make it. This offers great flexibility if you do not share my UK timezone!

After the live sessions the recordings and supporting material are uploaded to my online learning platform Thinkific. Here you can work through the project, ask me questions and share images with your fellow students.

In 2024 there are two new classes launching, an advanced goldwork design that covers the following techniques

  • padding using carpet felt, craft felt, hard string and soft string
  • plaited braid stitch
  • couching over hard string, Italian couching and mixed couching
  • pearl pear and over stretched pearl purl
  • plate
  • chipping
  • cutwork
  • stumpwork leaves

  • preparatory work, how to prepare and why its important
